Norman 1066 Experience

The Norman 1066 Experience is presented by a Norman Soldier.

 

This is suitable for KS 2,3, 4 and 5

The Norman 1066 Experience usually lasts for half a day. 

​

The Norman Experience consists of;

  • An introduction to the Normans; Including their origins, Castle Building, The Doomsday Book , Feudalism and legacy.

  • The Battle of Hastings, the students re-enact the Battle of Hastings during which an introduction to the varying battle styles and weapons of the Normans and the Saxons is presented. 

  • Handling session: Time for pupils to handle blunted swords, try on helmets,and hold shields with the teacher whilst our soldier will help the children try on a set of Maille. ( The equipment is drawn from both sides of the battle )
